Limited 180gm colored vinyl LP pressing. In 1977 punk rock was rising and The Kinks were on the decline fresh off a series of elaborate concept albums and stage shows. Then came the Top 25 album Sleepwalker, their first for the new Arista label, whose title cut hit and further standouts like "Juke Box Music," helped put the band back on the road to stadium-sized stardom in America. While there's no trace of Brit-Pop to be found, there are plenty of the seemingly-autobiographical ballads and rockers that no one does better than Ray Davies. Melody Maker praised the album, saying, that Sleepwalker "emphatically testifies to the dramatic artistic revival of Ray Davies, whose supreme talents as a writer have been so distressingly overlooked during the first half of the 1970s. Sleepwalker really is the group's strongest and most organised album in years."
